CalRecycle administers California's Covered Electronic Waste (CEW) program under SB-20 and SB-50, with SB 1215 adding covered battery-embedded products from January 1, 2026. The program runs on two cycles. An approved collector maintains the CalRecycle 198 collection log as CEW is accepted — CRT, non-CRT and CBEP unit counts, source, date and weight. An approved recycler files a payment claim with CalRecycle for each calendar month, received within 45 days of the end of the reporting month (14 CCR § 18660.22). CalRecycle uses the claimed tonnage by category to calculate the recovery and recycling payments.
The claim process is straightforward in concept but complex in practice. Collectors must reconcile their pallet receiving records against the claim, separate CRT, non-CRT and CBEP material by weight and count, attribute material to the correct vendor records, and get the package right before the 45-day window closes. For operations handling dozens of vendors and hundreds of pallets a month, that reconciliation is a significant administrative burden — and a source of compliance risk when the numbers don't perfectly match.
Tayr automates this by connecting the receiving workflow directly to the reporting output. Every pallet logged at intake carries the item type, weight, and vendor attribution that the CalRecycle claim requires. You filter by reporting month or any date range and export — the fields are already populated from your daily operations. No separate data entry, no cross-referencing spreadsheets, no month-end scramble.
