SB-20 reporting is a manual nightmare
Pulling CRT weights from spreadsheets, splitting flatscreen counts by vendor, reconciling pallets when a claim goes out — most recyclers spend days on what should take minutes.
SB-20 compliance reports, DTSC tracking, CEW log management, pallet receiving with net weight calculations, and an e-waste pickup portal — all in one platform.
No general-purpose CRM knows what SB-20 is — let alone how to report on it. Tayr does.
Pulling CRT weights from spreadsheets, splitting flatscreen counts by vendor, reconciling pallets when a claim goes out — most recyclers spend days on what should take minutes.
Pickup requests in email, receiving logs in Excel, purchase orders in QuickBooks, invoices somewhere else. Nothing talks to anything.
Without a clear audit trail from receiving to report, errors surface at the worst time. Recyclers need one source of truth, not a patchwork of files.
California regulatory context
California’s SB-20 program requires approved recyclers to track covered electronic waste at a detailed level — separate unit counts and net weights for CRT, non-CRT and CBEP material, and to account for it to CalRecycle. CalRecycle pays a different rate for each category, which means a single misclassification between CRT and non-CRT affects your payout. For recyclers and dual entities, this means every incoming load must be categorized at receiving time — not reconstructed from memory when a claim goes out.
Running alongside SB-20, the DTSC (Department of Toxic Substances Control) has its own reporting requirements for hazardous materials present in e-waste — including cathode ray tubes, circuit boards, and batteries. Approved e-waste operations often need records that satisfy both CalRecycle and DTSC simultaneously, which doubles the documentation burden when you’re working from spreadsheets.
Tayr is built around this dual-reporting reality. Every receiving record tags line items by SB-20 category at intake — CRT, non-CRT, CBEP, or non-CEW e-waste. When a reporting month ends, you run the CEW claim data and it pulls CRT, non-CRT and CBEP totals, pallet counts, vendor breakdowns, and net weights automatically. The same underlying data feeds your DTSC report and CEW log. Instead of pulling from five different spreadsheets, you’re working from one connected record per load — from the day it arrived to the day your claim goes out.
Built for the workflow
Tayr covers the full operational loop — from pickup request to pallet intake to compliance report.
Generate SB-20 purchase order reports with CRT and flatscreen units, net weights, pallet counts, and costs — automatically separated by category.
Aggregate all SB-20 and e-waste line items into a DTSC compliance report covering unit counts, weights, and costs across any date range.
Maintain a complete covered electronic waste log with source tracking, entry-by-entry records, and audit-ready export — built specifically for CalRecycle requirements.
Log every inbound pallet with gross weight, tare weight, and auto-calculated net weight. Attach photos, add notes, and convert directly to a PO or invoice.
Give your clients a public-facing page to submit e-waste pickup requests. Requests flow into your logistics queue for scheduling and driver assignment.
Create purchase orders for your e-waste vendors, track receiving against open orders, and invoice clients — all connected to the same client and product records.
